TONY D’AMATO - While stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, Tony won the Marine Corps Marathon shadow race for the Air Force.  Nice work, Tony!

AARON PALAIAN - Aaron is the race director for three races in Texas where he spotlights Brooks and has received kudos from area sales reps.  His first race, the Monster Mash 5/10k was a success.  Thanks, Aaron!

CAROL REWICK - Carol won her third straight Helen Klein 50 miler in Northern California.  She also sells a lot of Brooks shoes at the Fleet Feet Vacaville store that she owns and runs.  Great job, Carol!

TOM DEVLIN - Tom recently ran a 5k PR and helped coach the La Salle College HS girls team to a 2nd Place Finish at the State XC Meet.  Nice job, Tom!

CHRIS DOWNER - Chris coached his boys and girls XC teams to an Indianapolis state championship last month! Kudos, Chris!

HERB TOLBERT - A HS coach and avid runner, Herb recently placed second in the 60-65 Age Group at the Philly Marathon in a time of 3:18:46.  Nice work, Herb!

EVAN GRAVES - Evan was 3rd overall finisher at the Philly Marathon in 2:24:38.  Great time, Evan!

DAN COURTNEY - Dan coached his HS girls and boys XC teams to class DD sectional championships and was voted the coach-of-the-year!  Congrats, Dan!

MARK CUCUZZELLA - Mark is our profiled I.D. Member for December.  Mark is a competitive marathoner, who
helps coach elite runners with the Air Force, and is also a physician and associate professor in West Virginia.  You can view Mark’s profile at www.brooksrunning.com/id.

POSITIVE MEDIA EXPOSURES
Many of you are quoted in local journals and newspapers, or have your pictures posted following great race finishes.  I want to reward you for giving Brooks positive exposures in the media.  For 2009, I will be posting a form on our Web site that you can download and complete when you have such an exposure.  If you are quoted in a journal, newspaper, or Web forum and you mention “Brooks” or “Brooks I.D.” I will give you $25 to purchase Brooks products online at brooksrunning.com.  Similarly, if you have your picture published clearly wearing Brooks gear, you are eligible to receive the same award.  These awards will be limited to 4 per individual, for a $100 maximum.  Look for the form online in the next few weeks!
2009 UNIFORMS
For the 2009 campaign we will be using the I.D. Elite Short (men’s/women’s), Speed Short, and I.D. Elite Singlet /Tank for racing.  The red I.D. Singlet is fine as well.  There are big plans for uniforms in 2010, but product development takes time, so please plan to order the I.D. Elite gear (formerly called Infiniti) for 2009.
HOUSTON, DISNEY, OR 3M?
If you have registered to run any of these three races in January, you are eligible for the first Age Group Awards of 2009!  All you need to do is email me and tell me which race you are running, and your goal time.  The top Open, Sub-Master, and Master female and male runners in each race will win an award package.  Also, the individual who finished closest to his or her goal time will win as well.  Good luck!
USATF XC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
On Dec. 13, many I.D. Members will be racing in Spokane, WA, at the USATF XC Club Championships.  In addition to our members racing for their respective club teams, we have a Men’s Open and Masters team representing the Brooks I.D. Program.  Below is the list of athletes competing for team #220.  Also, all Brooks-sponsored athletes are welcome to join us for a post-race social with appetizers and drinks at the Spokane Winger’s Grill & Bar, (14742 E. Indiana Ave. at the Valley Mall), from 4-6 p.m.  Wish us luck!

A WORD ABOUT LOYALTY . . .
Unfortunately, I have recently been approached by several Brooks employees who encountered I.D. Members at events wearing competitor’s clothing and/or footwear. Please remember that you agreed to a contract to exclusively wear Brooks running shoes and apparel when you run. If you have a problem with this agreement I can easily give your sponsorship to another program applicant. For the 99 percent of you who consistently exhibit loyalty: Thank you, and please continue to support us because we love supporting you!!!

SHOUT-OUTS!
Jason Saitta - Jason won the Boulder Marathon in a time of 2:34 :36. Nice work, Jason!

Joshua Sherrod - Josh won the Army 10 mile in Balad, Iraq in a time of 58:51. Great job, Josh and thanks for serving our country!

Charles Lindsey - Charles just completed 30
straight years of running every day and over 50,000 miles!
He’s been running in Brooks exclusively since the early 1970’s and has run too many races to count. That is quite an accomplishment, Charles. Congratulations!

Katie Brooks - Katie recently finished as the top US woman in the 20-25 age category at the Duathlon World Championships. Way to go, Katie!

Matthew Clancy - Matthew won the 35-39 year old
category for the North Carolina Triathlon Series. He beat 557 competitors in his age group. Nice job, Matt!

Susan Empey and Megan Arbogast - These two ladies finished first and second in the US Masters Marathon Championships at the Twin Cities Marathon. Susan ran 2:50 beating Megan who finished in 2:51—both great times on a slow day! Way to go ladies! Susan is also our Featured I.D. Member for November. Check out her profile at brooksrunning.com/ID.

EVENTS
A total of 31 I.D. Members helped at the Brooks booth at this year’s Marine Corps Marathon Expo. We also had a “Deluxe Porta-Potty” near the start on race day and everyone wearing Brooks shoes or apparel was treated to a warm bathroom with towels and mints. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a
success!

2009 MEMBERSHIP
In the next week or less I’ll be sending out an email about our change to a new pro-purchase Web site, 3point5. 3point5 will allow you to enter an initial password, and then create your own user name and password for future purchases. Also, all the items on the site are listed at your discount.

To officially transfer your information to the new system and establish my 2009 program I will need you to complete a renewal application that I plan to send next week. Please make this a priority as it’s essential for me in this transition! In late December or early January I will be assigning sponsorship levels for everyone. Please email me with any questions regarding the upcoming transition.

Happy Running!

2009 MEMBER TEE
A few weeks ago I sent out a survey asking you to vote on your
favorite design for the 2009 Member Tee. The top two
vote-receiving designs were very close, so I’ve decided to make
both tees and give you the option to choose! Nearly 700
members voted and although all the designs received a minimum of seven percent of the total vote, our winners received 24% and 26% of the vote respectively. I will be distributing the tees in early 2009!

USATF CLUB #220
I always encourage athletes to join a local running club and
compete at local, regional, and national events. However,
some of you don’t have a good club to join so I created the Brooks I.D. Club Team. I am inviting anyone who desires to race at the USATF XC Club Championships in Spokane, WA, on Dec. 13 to run with us. I currently have a men’s open team but would love to fill a women’s open, and men’s and women’s masters teams as well.
If you would like to compete I will coordinate the teams, provide
uniforms, and we will have a pre- and post-race get together.
You will need to join USATF at www.usatf.org, assign team #220 as your preferred team and receive an official USATF number to compete. Drop me an email if you are interested—the more the better! Please do not quit another team to compete—this is for members who are NOT currently affiliated with a club team.
OCTOBER RECAP
If you missed October’s Newsletter, here is a recap of the
announcements: Elite Wear Testers - We have combined with our footwear department to create an elite wear test program. Applications can be found on the I.D. website and finished forms mailed to weartesting@brooksrunning.com. Please be patient as our new program manager is still sorting through applications.

Age-Group Awards - Next year at 13 races across the country I am providing Age-Group Awards for Open, Sub-Masters, and Masters Categories. The beauty of the program is you only compete against other I.D. Members! The highlight of the award package is a sweet new Brooks Belt Buckle I had specially made for this program. Check the I.D. blog and website for the list of races.
