Brooks I.D. Program

MARATHON SEASON…
For those of you running marathons…we salute you!

I often wonder why the arbitrary distance of 26.2 miles compells us
to change our sleeping, eating, and daily life routines to
ultimately torture our bodies.  I’ve tried to convince my
exercise-declined family to run, but my ultimate lack of
rationality becomes my downfall.  However, I’m relentless and
will continue to ask, “anyone want to join me for a 90 minute run
before we eat Turkey?  It makes nap time so much sweeter!”

Happy Running,

Steve D.

with prominent races across the country.  Well, Brooks Sports

Brooks Sports Announces Multi-Year Partnership with Rock ‘n’
Roll Marathon Series

Bothell, WA (September 23, 2009) -
Leading running company
Brooks Sports, Inc. (www.brooksrunning.com) announced today a
multi-year partnership with Competitor Group’s Rock ‘n’ Roll
Marathon Series, beginning February 1, 2010.  The national
13-city race series combines entertainment and running, featuring
live bands performing at every mile along the course, cheerleaders
encouraging runners throughout the race, and a post-event headliner
concert.  The energy and enthusiasm of the Rock ‘n’ Roll
Marthons aligns perfectly with Brooks’ belief in celebrating the
joy of running.

“We are excited to be partnering with a growing, dynamic company
like the Competitor Group and the flagship Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon
Series,” said Jim Weber, president and CEO of Brooks.  “To be
able to join in ohn the party that is Rock ‘n’ Roll and to expose
so many avid, inspiring runners to the Brooks brand by supporting
their ambitions to run longer, farther and faster is invaluable to
us.”

Brooks will be the official footwear and apparel partner for the
Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, and its sister brand, Moving
Comfort, will be the official sports bra for the series, beginning
with the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and Half
Marathon in New Orleans on February 28, 2010.

“The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is thrilled to partner with
Brooks, one of the work’s most recognized specialty running
brands,” said Scott Dickey, Chief Operating Officer of the
Competitor Group.  “Brooks epitomizes what the sport of
running is all about.  Their partnerships throughout the
industry are known for mutual brand advancement, as well as a
geniune connection with runners.  We look forward to providing
a national platform for the continued growth of their
industry-leading footwear and apparel products.”

Brooks will have a significant presence at each of the 13 national
Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon Series events in cities
cuch as San Antionio, Nashville, Seattle, Chicago and Las Vegas,
among others.  Brooks will be the exclusive footwear and
apparel brand available for purchase in the official merchandise
stores at each event’s Health and Fitness Expo, and Brooks will be
featured prominently at the start and finish lines, and all miles
in-between.  Additionally, every registered runner - a
combined annual total of over 250,000 across the 13 events - will
receive a Brooks technical tee for participating in the marathon
series.

“We see a great opportunity to extend our Run Happy positioning to
the entire Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon experience,” said Dave Larson,
Brooks VP of Marketing.  “From energizing runners on-course
with inspirational promos to offering collectable performance-based
Rock ‘n’ Roll branded merchandise, Brooks will enhance these unique
races in memorable ways.”

TWO MEMBERS CONNECT…
A note from a fellow I.D. Member…

“I wanted to write and share a great experience I had this weekend
in San Jose.  My wife and I made the drive down for this Rock
‘n’ Roll 1/2 on Sunday.  Right around mile 5 I met another
I.D. Member, Terry from just north of Memphis, TN.  We ran
together for most of mile 5 and, as much as was possible in the
middle of a half marathon, connected.  Coincidence happens all
the time, but running into another I.D. Member in the middle of a
race and to have it be a fellow from across the country who happens
to be from your home state (I grew up in Chattanooga, TN) was awful
fun.  In addition to being an all around great guy, Terry has
run all of the Rock ‘n’ Roll races since the April Nashville
race.  With 7 RnR’s under his belt he made me think about the
twitter post that I think I remember saying that Brooks was going
to become the official shoe of RnR for 2010.  Terry seems to
be spreading the work ahead of the curve.  Thanks again for
including me in the I.D. Program this year.  It has already
been a blast and I hope to continue next year!”
